PostSubject: WolfQuest VS. WOLF: Your opinions?   13/08/11, 04:33 am

Which do you like more? and why? Wink

I'm just curious about how you view both games, plus I need something to read. Laughing

WolfQuest:

It was fun the first couple times, but it got boring since nothing changed. I would try to figure out ways to challenge myself but it was still more a game for younger kids. (In my opinion)
I did like how the pups had inherited colors and the graphics are pretty good, but I like a challenge, which this doesn't provide.
Also there are only 2 animals you can prey on, while wolves have a much larger diet than just rabbits and elk. The bears are wimpy, and while the team tried to make it more child friendly, they ruined it for older players.
The only wolves that actually move are you, your mate, and your pups, so that sort of ruins it too. I also realize they have limited funding, but they could secretly develop a new version and build up the funding they get so they can make it better over a few years.
I don't find it impossible. Razz

WOLF:

I find WOLF to provide a learning experience, and a good challenge, with changeable options to make it harder or easier.
Since it was made in 1994 (?) it is a little out-dated, but other than that it's great!
I love how they have a wider variety of prey depending on where you are, along with three different habitats.
I also like how you can have multiple litters of pups, and how it's based on real time. It depicts wolf behavior pretty well, and shows what they're capable of doing.
Wolf also has hunters/poachers, something you don't commonly see, along with traps, it's a real survival game. Smile

I could list more, but I'll skip right to my ratings~

WQ: 2 of 10
WOLF: 9 of 10

(Meant to share an open opinion, not to offend)

May add my opinion later.

However. If I see any flame wars or arguing going on, that gets' out of control I will lock this thread.

I see WOLF as a MUCH better game and like you said about WQ Destiny, it is not very much a challenge and ruined for older players such as myself. I do so love WOLF, and I tend to like 2D graphics better than 3D, depending on the situation, in this case I like 2D from WOLF a Earth load better. The graphics are beautiful, and so are their wonderful animation's!

In my opinion, some parts of WOLF are better than WolfQuest, and parts of WQ are better than WOLF. I love the WolfQuest multiplayer(not the lexicon, though). I find that I get lonely with WOLF sometimes, and wish real people could play with me...well, I guess that's what WO is for, lol. But anyway, WOLF is much longer and more fun than WQ's singleplayer. WolfQuest only goes so far, WOLF goes through your chracter's whole life.

I'd have to say that WOLF is definitely the more challenging game, what with the numerous hunters, boobytraps, ever-present chance to starve... WolfQuest's graphics are obviously more modern, but WOLF (to me, anyway) feels actually more realistic in a lot of ways.

For one, there's virtually no text in WOLF, making it a lot more intuitive and a bit more like being a wild wolf (no Guide to the Wild out there). WolfQuest is a lot more child-friendly, but that softened gameplay sort of takes a bit away from the game.

For another, WOLF encompasses a lot of aspects of being a wolf that WolfQuest doesn't; having pups is a much bigger challenge in WOLF. The difficulty can be pretty annoying (especially the waiting part!), but I appreciate it sometimes because it really makes success even more rewarding. I have yet to successfully bear pups in WOLF, mainly because my mate either dies or I just don't have the patience to carry through. Still, I try. Razz

I've never had a glitch in WOLF, but WolfQuest is full of them because it wasn't made as a professional game. Overall, I prefer WOLF.

I find WQ improfessional. Especially the endless loop; poorly conceieved. I could rant for hours. But I won't. WQ is better for younger kids, and WOLF is better for older ones.

I don't like challenging games, but I find WOLF fairly easy as long as you don't over hunt. WOLF...I can play it for hours. Whereas for me, WolfQuest lags and after a short amount of time it gets boring. The constant glitching is VERY ANNOYING. But eh, it is a non-profit game, don't give 'em such a hard time.

Well, I can't really judge WQ so hard now..They recently updated the game, and it's MUCHHH better. The have sleep controls, weather and time changes, and seasons. It has become a beautiful game, and they've pulled through a long way. Their half way out of life's ditch.

And, I can't judge WOLF at all anymore..I had to restore my computer, I lost the WOLF file(s), and probably won't be able to re download it any time soon, but WQ has worked wonders on me once more..Though they still haven't made the game longer..

WolfQuest: I was crazy exited for this game to release in the beginning, but the loooooooooo(5 years later)oooooooooong wait has rendered the game unreaslistic and redundant so I find it hard to say it were my favorite. Fancy graphics and glitched gameplay isn't gonna win much of me over.

WOLF: Where do I begin? Classic digital graphics, fine gameplay, infinent maps, eternal gameplay, adorable tiny sprites, no limit to life, no quests, freedom, struggle, hunting, improvization, easy to understand controls, friendly graphics in the mating moments along with the animated blood, cute puppies that are SOOOOO adorable when they jump around! What more can I say? Although I have yet to play it, I can't help but admire every feature! Now a new feature is gonna be added, online chatting and communication with other people!

WolfQuest- At first I was really excited for the download, but it was such a huge file that the download was almost eternal. I played the game and found a mate (this is episode one I'm talking about) and then... Whoo-hoo, the game was over. And all we could do was hunt. The next episode wasn't much better, because for one thing, I doubt that many coyotes and grizzlies could gather without fighting amongst themselves, and another, it was just..Boring. For the amount of time it took to wait for it, WQ didn't really make me happy. It was a massive disappointment to me. :/

WOLF- I loved WOLF! I liked that there were hunters that you had to run from, and I liked that you could get hurt and your mate could die (and not come back to life T.T). I especially loved that your pups could grow up, something WQ couldn't implement because they had so much unnecessary junk. And yet, WOLF can implement all sorts of prey and hunters and have your little wolf puppies grow up AND still be a smaller file than WQ! I didn't think that WQ's graphics were all that impressive, either; WOLF's simple ones were much better for me. Overall, I definitely think that WOLF is the much better game.

I agree! WolfQuest was very boring, I hate how the hawks swoop down and grab your pups. I played the game and completed it in one hour.

WOLF is way better.

WOLF-Congratulate me, I got the file back! Well, this game has wrapped it's wings around my heart once more. Working hard to re-receive pups, teaching myself how to pick out the sick animals, and learning which wolves are stronger(Not including Rumor and Centarus, I already know their they strongest M/F)But, anyway, I love this game! And, my parents said I wouldn't like the 2-D graphics, since I'm a modern day girl, but I LOOOVE them!

WQ-....I'll give it to you straight...

It's become lame again, and it sucks.
